NAGRA 4.2 Mono Analogue Reel To Reel Tape Recorder
Serial number 135216 none pilot. EQ is CCIR with ALC and it has a 50 Hz stroboscopic roller
This NAGRA is in very good condition and in good working order
It has been serviced by Mike Harris Sound Services and has a 3 month guarantee
With shoulder strap fixing screw, a copy of Instruction manual, mono to stereo jack adapter and a new roll of tape that was used to line up the recorder. It now has 1 & 8K at -8dB test frequency, some music to test the playback, and a new SWITCHMODE mains power supply, so the recorder can be tested on delivery.
Some of the pictures may appear overly yellow due to an issue with the camera settings at the time
The machine has the following features:
You can run 7" tape spools with the lid open, or remove the lid with the lift off hinges, or run 5 inch tape with the lid closed.
It also has a clean battery compartment and box cover has no battery corrosion. I have set the bias for LPR35 when set on the SPEED & EQ to LP for long play tape and SM911 when set to STD standard play tape
The Perspex lid has some scratches but is in very good condition
This is a full track mono CCIR recorder, no Pilot sync head or circuit bards are fitted
(Pictured below right) See pilot link plug socket. Above the pilot link socket and handle fixing screw are the two large case opening screws. PLEASE NOTE: Only unscrew 3 or 4 turn. Do not take right out, or parts could fall into the recorder, so switch off before opening.
(Pictured above left) Two microphone inputs are new 3 pin XLR socket. Line Input on an ACC socket is a 6 pin Tuchel plug or 4 mm banana plugs. The VOL is the playback level control, next to the handle fixing screw.
(Pictured above right) The 4 mm banana sockets are 4.4 volts output at 600 ohm. If you feed this output to a Stereo NAGRA you must use the QCSE lead or a copy with a 47K ohm pad. Or use the 7 pin MIXER socket that has a Playback. Alternatively Direct output leads can be made to order. For the POWER PACK, you can use the 24 volts ATN power supply, the 35 volts ATN 2 or ATN 3 power supplies, or the UAP11 power supply on the main page. The 3 pin XLR plug is the balanced output
(Pictured Above) The back of the recorder is good condition and the lift off lid hinges are in good working order
(Pictured above left) Tape heads are in good condition, and the recorder has a new pinch wheel.
(Pictured above right) Speed and EQ switch - STD has been setup for SM911 and LN setup for LPR35 for flat with + 3 dB HF
The tape bias and EQ - This recorder is set up for SM911 & LPR35 which I have selected as closest to AGFA 468 or 368, Zonal 468 / 368 and BASF 468 or 368, that was the most common tape used.
(Pictured above) The battery box and cover are in good order and there is no battery corrosion.
The recorder works from 12 x U2 batteries or external ATN mains supply (not included) See Accessories 2 for power supplies
(Pictured above right) There are two Dynamic Microphone plug in pre-amps that are behind the meter. These can be changed to use T powered or phantom 48 volt microphone or an asymmetrical line input, when boards are available. Behind them is the auto record level board ALC
NAGRA is the best reel-to-reel tape recorder ever made with the best of Swiss engineering that you are never likely to see again.
One of the joys of owning a NAGRA is that it is an all in one over the shoulder recorder and when you switch it on you know it is going to work and give you a professional quality recording in any conditions.
PLEASE NOTE: The Perspex lid is very good but there are some scratches. The recorder is in very good condition and looks like it has hardly been used
